My 1% beer

My 1% beer

I can’t believe how good this tastes. I didn’t even dry hop it in the end – it’s just bursting with hop and malt flavour, quite an achievement given that it has less than 1kg of malt for 12L.

Freshly poured and just settling down

I could drink this till the cows come home. It’s lovely.

Happy Halloween to you too Chuwy. Wont make it to Ushi tonight unfortunately. Shame. Don’t have a costume anyway.

Actually, might head to Ushi for a quickie first. Will probably miss you though.

So, how exaclty DOES it taste? Would you say it’s a light IPA? A light pale ale? Or how ’bout a bitter? I’m curious to try it…if you’lll have any left in a couple weeks that is

It’s difficult to classify. In terms of bitterness and hop taste, it’s towards IPA – but at 1% alcohol it’s very light and I didn’t dry hop it, so it would be closer to a light pale ale. In fact, flavoursome mild would be the closest.

No chance there will be any left in a couple of weeks. I doubt if there will be any left by next weekend! But I will be making more.

Interesting. Maybe some day I’ll try to brew a low alcohol beer (well, lower than my 3.5% mild) but I don’t see that day coming any time soon, ha! Still curious to try yours the next time you brew it, though.

    Where’s the recipe?
I was wondering about trying a 2.8% ale.
